My name is Vitaly, I’m an expirienced motorcycle traveler from Moscow, Russia. And I’m glad to introduce some of my motorcycle tours and rides in Moscow and around. If you don’t have a motorcycle, you could be interested in my motorcycle tours. If you do and decided to travel to Russia by motorcycle — just read this post.
There are lots of interesting places in Moscow and around and a lot of sights. Some of them are historical, some of them are modern. Lots of abandoned military and urban objects, which are sometimes even more memorable than historical sights. Moscow and suburbs are really good for a short motorcycle trip: the roads are in not bad condition, lots of hotels, some people even speak english. At the same time you can visit a real Russian remote places with destinctive architecture and local mode of life.
Motorcycle rides.
There are several typical routes suitable for a two-days trip by motorcycle. Two-days motorcycle rides seems to me the most comforlable because you got some time to walk around the sights, not only driving your bike for all day long.
1. The Golden and The Silver Rings. As you know, The Golden Ring of Russia is huge, there are seven or eight towns included (different opinions). The Silver Ring includes even more places of interest but unfortunately most part of them looks alike. There is no need to visit all of them to build your opinion about The Rings. In my opinion the best route looks like Moscow — Sergiyev Posad — Pereslavl-Zalesskiy — Yaroslavl — Kostroma — Suzdal — Vladimir — Moscow. Two days is enough for this route. Lots of churches… Maybe even too much, heh 🙂
2. Modern architecture and Russian villages. We’ve got an interesting place in Kaluga Oblast called Archstoyanie festival. It’s a field near Ugra-river, full of amazing architectural structures built by modern Russian architectors. Very nice place to visit but the roads are not very good. And the nature is really beautiful.
Next we could go through Tula, Ryazan and Kolomna back to Moscow.
Short one-day motorcycle rides around Moscow are also could be interesting. Different routs are possible.
